In September, I headed down to the Boston Tattoo Convention and decided to enter the Miss Boston Ink competition.
When it was my turn to introduce myself to the judges, I gave Rock City Tattoo in Vermont a quick shout-out and talked a little about my history with the convention. I’ve been attending the Boston Tattoo Convention since the very first one in 2002, back when it was held in Boston’s South End at the Arts Cyclorama building. Over the years, I’ve tattooed at the convention, been tattooed there, and watched it grow into what it is today.
Tattooing and tattoo collecting have been a huge part of my life for a long time. I’ve been collecting tattoos for four decades, and my collection includes work from artists from seven different countries. So getting up on that stage felt less like doing something completely out of character and more like celebrating a part of my life that has been with me for a very long time.
I also made a custom thong made specifically for the competition so I could properly show off my full back piece. I’ll spare everyone the behind-the-scenes details on that one.
At the end, I was crowned Miss Boston Ink 2026.
It was such a fun experience, but I also have a lot of respect for every woman who got up there and did it. It takes guts to walk onto a stage, put yourself out there, and let a room full of people look at your tattoos, your style, and your personality.
For me, winning was a really cool full-circle moment after so many years of being part of the Boston Tattoo Convention in one way or another.
Miss Boston Ink 2026. Not a bad way to spend a September weekend. 🖤
